Vistacast mirrors your iPhone’s screen to a Fire TV, a Google TV device, or an Android TV, with no cables, over your own Wi-Fi network. Most problems come down to one of the five below. If yours is not here, write to us and a real person will read it.

My TV does not appear in the list

Three things to check, in this order.

First, the iPhone and the TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network, not a separate guest network, and not one of them on mobile data. Second, the free Vistacast Receiver app must be installed and open on the Fire TV, Google TV or Android TV device; the iPhone can only find a receiver that is running. Third, some routers have a setting usually called AP Isolation or Client Isolation that stops devices on the same network from seeing each other, and some networks block the multicast traffic that device discovery depends on. Both are properties of the network rather than faults in the app, and both are common on hotel, campus, and office Wi-Fi.

Netflix, Disney+, or another protected app will not mirror

This is a restriction in Apple’s operating system, not a limitation of Vistacast. Content protected by FairPlay DRM cannot be captured by any third-party app on iOS, so the picture from those apps is blocked at the system level. Everything else on your screen mirrors normally.

The stream stops on its own

Locking your iPhone ends the broadcast, because iOS terminates the screen-recording extension when the device locks. The stream also stops if the receiver app loses the foreground on the TV (some Android TV screensavers do this), or if you have used up the day’s free allowance.

How much can I stream for free?

The iPhone app is free and includes ten minutes of streaming per day. That time is cumulative across every session in the same day, and it resets at your local midnight. Vistacast Pro removes the limit and is sold as a lifetime unlock or as a monthly or annual subscription. The receiver app for your TV is free, with no purchases and no advertising.

Does Vistacast collect my data?

The apps do not. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers of ours involved: your screen’s video and audio go directly from the iPhone to the TV over your own Wi-Fi. This website is a separate matter: it counts page views with a cookieless analytics service that sets no cookies and cannot identify you. The privacy policy describes both in full.
